Screen Save Switch 1.0 ====================== This little Visual Basic program provides an easy way to control the status of the Windows Screensaver. Sometimes when performing a backup or extended download you might want to temporarily disable the screensaver to eliminate its impact on the system. Screen Save Switch allows you to toggle the screen saver active state, or to specifically turn it on or off. When run without parameters SSS toggles the screensaver's state. If the screen saver is currently active, it is inactivated. If it is inactive, it is activated. In either case a color coded message window is displayed for three seconds indicating what has happened. The state change is immediate and persistent (the state will not change back when Windows is restarted). There are two parameters which can be used with SSS.EXE. '/ON' instructs SSS to turn on (activate) the screensaver regardless of its current state. Likewise the use of the parameter '/OFF' deactivates the screensaver. Any other parameter specified on the command line displays a window showing the correct syntax for three seconds. In this case, no other action is taken and the state of the screensaver remains unchanged. SSS.EXE was developed to support the standard Windows 3.1 screensaver and has not been tested with any third party products. It has not been tested, but should work, with Windows 3.0. It seems to work with Windows NT 3.1 although with NT's preemptive multitasking it is probably unnecessary. It requires VBRUN200.DLL or later. SSS.EXE is freeware - enjoy. Frank Reidelberger 72320,650
